Kinky Knickers

I started to type up this post months and months ago....last March/April time in fact......but we FINALLY ordered some Mary Portas Kinky Knickers from Selfridges and they arrived .... Yay...

the lovely recyclable packaging inside and outside

and in the gusset was a little note from the person who sewed the knickers. Lala's from Andrew and mine from Julie :)

Lala and I loved the TV Show Mary's Bottom Line when it was on and wanted to buy some of the knickers then.... but everywhere we looked they were out of stock.... then we seemed to forget...and then last week I said to Lala, "We never did buy any of those knickers...let's order some"...so that is what we did :)

For those of you who are not familiar with  or did not see the show, we will tell you a little about it.
The show was about Mary's latest project to kick start the British Manufacturing Industry by reopening part of a disused textile factory in Middleton to make what everyone wears....knickers. :) these knickers are made from authentic Nottingham lace and are 100% Made In Britain .... unlike the ones you buy in the shops these days which are manufactured in China or India etc... And she has called them Kinky Knickers....

During the TV show, the knickers were made in

They And come packaged in a cute box

but now due to Mary employing more workers at the factory, the knickers come in more colours and you can choose whether you want straight edged or scalloped edged lacing.  I chose the purple and Lala the burgundy :)

She employed some of the seamstresses who were laid off when the factory closed and also a group of 8 young adults who were previously unemployed.
Many stores now sell Kinky Knickers - Liberty London, House of Fraser, Boots, Selfridges, Marks & Spencers and Asos.

It's great to buy British :)

Mary Portas is a total inspiration.... We will leave you with a photo of Mary and her beautiful wife, Melanie Rickey on their wedding day... We love the dresses they chose to wear for their Civil Partnership
