Sooooo let us introduce you to the handsome Ben :) isn't he just adorable. Ben is 12 years old, totally blind and from Romania. About a month ago Lala came across him on Facebook on the Romanian Underdogs page. As soon as Lala saw his photo, she fell in love with him... I did too... He looked the cutest... This is the photo they put on FB
And this is his profile on the Romanian Underdogs web page.(click to enlarge)
So we contacted them and they arranged a home visit which we luckily passed :) When Zara phoned me from the rescue to say we had and that we could arrange a time to come down and meet him, towards the end of the conversation I (K) could feel myself getting emotional, I burst into tears when I hung up. I was sooooo excited about giving Ben a lovely, loving home... I couldn't wait to text Lala to tell her.
We went down to meet him on the Friday. He was currently at Glebe Farm Kennels in Nuneaton about an hour away from us. We both felt so emotional when we first saw Ben. We took him for a short walk and wanted to take him home straight away.... and that's what we did .... he came back with us to Derby :)

In the afternoon he went to The Groom Room and Pets at Home where he was pampered for 2 hours. He was such a star and the groomers said how lovely he was. I snuck back to have a peep to make sure he was ok part way through his pampering and he looked such a sweetheart. He is very fluffy and looked adorable after he had been groomed.

The way they treat animals especially dogs is horrendous - it makes us feel sick when we read about the cruelty. 26,000 dogs have been killed in the past 7 years!! You can read about it here
Luckily there are organizations such as Romanian Underdogs and Asociatia Milioane de Prieteni who are busy rescuing these dogs. They are doing a fabulous job.
Ben has been with us now 3 weeks and has settled in very well. He gets on well with our other two doggies - Meg & Rosie and our two kitties - Pumpkin & Tonks. He is so loving and gentle.

We feel so happy that we have been able to give Ben a home. If you too can give a loving home to a dog looking for his forever home, please consider one of these rescue dog from Romanian Underdogs.
If your circumstances don't permit re-homing a dog, please consider donating £1 a month to Romanian Underdogs. You can do so by clicking here
